Try as I might I cannot figure out why over the past several nights I have woken at almost the exact same time 2:15 and been unable to go back to sleep. The first time I blamed caffeine as the culprit but night before last, no caffeine in the picture – I didn’t even have two cups of coffee in the morning! I’m blaming it on hormones I guess since sleep problems do not seem to plague our male counterparts. As I lay in bed tossing and turning, begging for sleep to come alongside me, my husband is sound asleep. It is very frustrating, almost as bad as the sober person around a bunch of drunk folks who are acting incredibly stupid.

After it became apparent that I was definitely, try as I might, not going back to sleep and dawn was now approaching I figured I would get up. I got up, made a crumb cake, made the coffee and then went out for a run (or run/walk as may be more appropriate).  There wasn’t a car out on the road while I was out. Here are some pictures from the morning yesterday

The View From the Window This Morning

Dawn breaking over the hill this morning.

I really hate waking up in the dark. Soon, when the clocks go back, it will be even darker (if that is possible) in the morning when I have to get up. There really is something more difficult about prying yourself out of bed when it is something akin to the middle of the night.

But, since I am trying to not complain these days and look to the bright side, here it is.

When you are up while it is still pitch black out, you do have the opportunity–each and every day- to watch the sun rise over the mountains. Now, that in and of itself, is a good reason to pry yourself out of bed in the darkness, don’t you think ?

It’s nice that the days are getting longer and brighter. Here are some pictures of the sunrise this morning … which was just beautiful. I just wish the sun got up before I did.

One of the best things about being up early. It’s quiet, it’s peaceful and the scenery is just breathtaking.

There is an upside to being awake before the sun rises. You get to see this.

There’s always a bright side…….

It was quite foggy this morning on the hill.

The sun started to come out and it was beautiful. A gorgeous Sunday morning.

The pink of the sky and the white of snow made me leave the house in my pajamas no less to take this picture in 12 degree weather this morning.

Enjoy and have a wonderful Thursday – 6 days until Christmas! Oops – 8 days ’til Christmas – I got ahead of myself there.

It was a foggy morning this morning, after a night of pretty constant rain. The one good thing about waking up while it is still dark is that you are definitely awake for the sunrise – always a good thing.

We had a great time in Boston. Due to bus problems we were only able to do 50 maximum for the ride back and that turned a 3 – 3 1/2 hour trip into a 5 hour trip with a couple stops to re-boot the bus evidently. Blue Man Group show was terrific but we were not allowed to take pictures. I think it was one of the highlights of the trip for the kids. We arrived back at the school at 2 a.m. and by the time we unloaded and got home it was more like 2:30-ish this morning. Everyone seems no worse for the wear.
