Here’s the view of the outside, which Tom was convinced was a watermelon.

This is one of those plants. You know the one that I mean. The one that seeded itself from something that was in the garden or the compost last year. The plant didn’t get that large, but this was a sizable fruit. We cut it open and it appears squash/zucchini like on the inside. Around here, we are well aware of the crazy cross pollination that can take place and we and the neighbors have had some cukecinnis and pumpzinnis and cukeins in the past, but this one is a mystery. So…..I ask any ideas? (Having a clue might help me figure out how to cook it as well, so recipes for the mystery vegetable are also welcome!)

Did you ever plant Spaghetti squash in your plot? It looks like the interior of one, and the outside is similar. You should be able to scoop out the innards gently and toss into boiling water and cook and eat it like pasta.
