Evidently a missing 11-year-old girl that was abducted on her way to school in 1991 walked into a California police station and identified herself. The pair, a man and his wife, who supposedly held her all these years were arrested. The now grown woman is being reunited with her family. There will be a news conference later today which will supposedly provide more information. My question would be, why would a 29-year-old woman, suddenly appear in a police station maintaining that she is the kidnapped girl. Why now? What was the chain of events that suddenly caused her to want to turn in her kidnappers and be reunited with her family? Was there a reason or was the woman being held under some type of restraint and this was her chance to break free and seek help? While it is truly amazing and probably surreal for her parents who grieved, I am sure, for the loss of their daughter. Their waking and sleeping hours for a long time after the child’s abduction must have been ruled with all of the horrible things that might have happened. I truly cannot imagine what that phone call and the conversation afterward must have been like.
I will be interested to see when the story unfolds further, what happened during those 18 years and what led to this woman coming forward at this point in time.

I don’t think there is a rainbow at the end of this story Tammy. I looked up some information and read all the stories I could last night on this lead. From what I have found the sumation is as follows – The 11 year old girl was taken, hidden in a secret shed/tent in the back of this guys property, restrained (chained). She was used as a sex slave and raped repeatedly daily. She bore two children by her abductor ( who are now 11 and 13). The abductors would take the cute little blond girls out as their own children, even though they also lived in the yard with their mother. It is unclear as of yet if the girls were also raped. Actually, one report I found stated that the couple and the girls were out and about and the girls were acting strange, when the couple were questioned the man paniced and spilled his guts about the 11 year old.
I find no hope or joy in this story, I weep for the lost lives and ruined futures. You have a repeated sexual offender (who was actually on lifetime parole when he abducted the girl and during the length of her torment, Kudos to the justice system and his parole officer). His moronic wife who went along with this breech of morality, both should have been put away or down a long time ago. You have a recovered girl who has had 18 years of her life stolen, who has to live with being raped repeatedly, and giving birth, not to mention having her youth and virginity stolen, she will never be right again, mentally. And her two beautiful blond girls born from a child and her abductor and raised in a tent in the backyard with no schooling and social interaction. What kind of life or future are they looking forward to?

Thanks for the update. I saw the same on the news this morning. Very sad stuff. Horrific to think that such individuals can be living among us. It was truly horrifying to hear how these people were considered so kind and thoughtful by their neighbors and are in reality monsters locking people away and committing all sorts of savage acts.
