I had a Christmas cactus that I bought last year at the supermarket. About 6 weeks ago, I did some online research to see how to make it bloom again. What I read indicated that if I watered it well and then put it in a room where it got at least 12 hours of darkness and was kept relatively cool, it should bloom. I was really excited when I noticed little red spots at the ends of the leaves and they have blossomed into really great flowers which just opened. Here are the pictures. I am very proud of myself since I’m usually not good with these kinds of things. Kudos to me!
Our niece Emily came for her first visit to Vermont this weekend. From the look on her face, it appears that she had a good time. It was great to spend time with her and remember what it’s like to have a baby around the house. The boys were enchanted (is it any wonder?) with her and it was cute to watch all those boys oogling and oggling all over her. Even their friend was taken with her.
It was fun to catch up with my brother and sister-in-law and my mom. Although we didn’t do much (except eat) it was fun just hanging around with them.
