I have been up for quite some time now and readying to wake the boys (I have 3) for school. Weather says that we are going to get a heck of a snowstorm which is good since we haven’t really had a “storm” since before Christmas. They are predicting in the area of 16 inches and I hope that the area is bigger rather than smaller. What a difference between here and Jersey. There, 2 inches of snow strikes panic in the heart of every man and woman and hardly rattles a “whoopie” from any child. It brings an onslaught of “weather warnings” which usually turn out to be nothing except everyone acts like it is the end of the world. Here, in Vermont, no one panics that it is going to snow, in fact, it is “supposed” to snow, that is what winter is all about. The boys will likely be coming home from school in about 5 inches of snow according to the forecast which is unheard of in NJ. We would have either had no school (in anticipation of the snow) or everyone would be out early (because dear god, it is snowing!)I personally am looking forward to it. Some of my best memories go back to snowstorms. In fact a few years ago in Jersey we had the Christmas blizzard (which really amazingly was a blizzard) and it forced a totally unplanned and very cool Christmas at our house since we were unable to get to my sister’s as planned which was an hour away from us in good weather. Of course, since we were going to my sister’s and from there up here to Vermont for vacation, we had no food in our house. But we managed and had quite the fun day doing it with a houseful of guests (family and friends) whose plans likewise yielded to Mother Nature.I plan on getting out early to get some shopping done and come back to hopefully finish writing next month’s issue (one of them at least) and get onto the task of staining my newly built cabinet. We’ll see how it goes…..
